Hot Air Balloon Rides Over The Pyrenees
From La Seu d'Urgell you will fly into the valley north-south between Pla de Sant Tirs and La Seu de Urgell city, with all the Cadi mountains on one side and the Pyrenees on the other with a maximum altitude of 4.500 ft.
Older than the Alps, the Pyrenees sediments were first deposited in coastal basins during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras. The Pyrenees form a natural border between France and Spain. They separate the Iberian Peninsula from France, and extend for about 430 km (267 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean (Bay of Biscay) to the Mediterranean Sea (Cap de Creus). For the most part, the main crest forms the Franco-Spanish frontier, with Andorra sandwiched in between.
Beautiful clusters of lakes and the headwater valleys of chief rivers nestle between towering peaks. Attractions on the ground include the facilities for winter sports, adventure sports, mountaineering and rock-climbing, a highly rated, distinctive cuisine, a rich heritage of Romanesque art, natural parks and reserves, highly picturesque towns, opportunities for country holidays and a good range of accommodation.
